Accumulated Depreciation – Buildings

Accumulated depreciation – buildings represents the cumulative amount of depreciation that has been charged against the use of buildings as of the entity’s balance sheet date. It is simply a contra account which is paired with the buildings asset account to arrive at the net book value of the buildings.  When a building is sold by the company then the related amount of accumulated depreciation is removed from the accumulated depreciation account.
